Critical Illness Benefit Rider
 
Critical Illness rider is an optional add-on benefit that is available to attach to the base policy, on paying prescribed extra premium amount.

When the life assured is diagnosed of listed critical deceases, then the additional benefits under this rider become payable.

The maximum rider benefit amount under a policy is restricted to 50% of the basic sum assured subject to the condition that the total premium for all the riders attached to base policy put together, should not exceed 30% of the base premium. Another restriction placed on this rider sum assured is that the total sum assured for an individual life assured under this rider, should not exceed Rs.20 Lakhs for all the SUD Life Insurance policies of the life assured, where this rider is attached, put together. This maximum benefit amount is Rs.10 Lakhs for a Multiple Sclerosis condition.

The benefit under this rider is available subject to the condition that there is 30 day survival period between the diagnosis of critical illness and the eligibility for benefit payment.
